Faculty and Staff
| Dr. Erin Campbell-Stone directs the field course and is primarily responsible for instruction. Erin is a structural geologist with extensive field experience in a variety of geologic settings, as well as experience in the oil industry. Her current geologic research focuses on structural and intrusive relationships in the Archean basement rocks of the Big Horn Mountains, and mechanisms for accommodation of low-angle normal faulting in continental crust.. She is assisted by Dr. Mike Boyles, Dr. Ron Frost, and several graduate student teaching assistants. Mike Boyles specializes in sedimentology and stratigraphy at the UW Institute for Energy Research. Ron Frost is a petrologist at the University of Wyoming and recognized expert on the Laramie Anorthosite. The graduate assistants have BS or MS degrees in geology as well as teaching and field experience. Faculty members, who are experts in their respective areas, may be brought in on special projects to give students the benefit of their expertise. While camping, a cook will travel with the group to provide meals and assist with camp logistics. Together, the staff is able to provide a high level of professional interaction with students. The staff shares the living conditions, social events, work sessions and recreational breaks with the students. |
